I am incredibly proud of myself. I took a package of raw chicken and made it into something not only edible, but quite palatable. I was going to follow the recipe that [livejournal.com profile] splagxna suggested, but when I opened the package it turned out that they were "thinly sliced, boneless, skinnless chicken breast cutlets". Yes, they actually fit that on the package. So instead, I did what I like to call Kamikaze Cooking. I made a stir-fry of sorts. It turned out REALLY good, except perhaps a bit on the salty side. I'd definitely try it again, only this time leave out the bullion cubes and use less olives to try to cut down on the salt. I went through about a half-gallon of water. I guess that's healthy. Except for all the chlorine. Tomorrow I get a home-cooked meal from someone else's kitchen, and I have meatballs in the freezer I can do something creative with on Saturday night. Or Sunday for lunch. Whatever.

Wouldn't it be funny if I actually turned out to LIKE cooking?

Can you inspire me to do likewise? Seriously. I'm such a lazy cook that many times, I can't be arsed to make something if it means I may have to defrost meat or spend a few minutes over a stove.

Hahahahaha.... I'm a lazy cook AND a bad cook. I don't have the first inkling of know-how to pull it off. I could inspire you by standing over you with a tiara and a magic wand and chanting "you LOVE to cook, you LOVE to cook..." but I'd be the lowest kind of hypocrite if I did.

it might be funny...but really.......cooking is a pain in the ass unless you have at least three people to cook for, because food is hard to balance with spice or heat in small enough quantities for one person. Plus, it comes in bigger packages than that.......have you ever seen ONE chicken breast packaged by itself??

two is ok, but three or four is best for me. If I have to cook for more than that, I tend to go completely overboard or not have enough food.....Today we should have four, unless someone else shows up randomly (which would be fine) and I'll prolly have about enough food for six.

cause I'm a pig, and I expect everyone else to be too!

I'm thinking I probably won't be there until later in the day. It looks like taking Pace to the El is probably the best way to go (one bus ride and two el rides for $1.80, how can you go wrong??) but the earliest bus isnt' until 3:40. I'll call in a bit anyway just to confirm.
