Moving favors!!!!
May. 8th, 2006 06:03 pmOkay, here's the first step in a major call-out to my friends and acquaintances. Major favors being asked here, and I'm hoping that since I'm still in the "ow, OW!" stage, I'm hoping all y'all will take pity on me and help.
My household will be moving this month, probably the third and/or fourth week. Hopefully we'll get access before the last weekend, so we can move stuff periodically But we don't know yet. We're also pricing professional movers to move some big stuff, but so far what we've looked at is out of our budget.
So you're probably assuming that I'm asking you if you're interested in helping us move.
And you'd be right. We will probably need folks to help us move from our apartment- 3rd floor, unfortunately- into a house. Luckily, the most steps you'd have to take anything up is about six or seven, in the new place. We don't have any exact dates yet, but I'm asking y'all to think about it.
More importantly, is that I need some volunteers to help me pack. I can't do it in this condition- I might be able to sit in my desk chair and toss stuff in a box, but the heavy stuff, etc., I can't do. I can't pack or lift book boxes, I can't pack CDs, etc. This is a lot more fluid than the actual moving, because it can be done any time in the week or so before the move, more or less at your convenience. I don't really have a whole lot of stuff, relatively speaking. If you're willing to help with this, please let me know. It will be more important as we get closer to the as-yet-unset moving date. I'll also probably need some help unpacking, but that's far less urgent, of course.
The third thing is that I have a piano that currently lives in Wheaton that we'd like to have come live with us. This is the hugest job, I think, and the hugest favor. Does anyone have any insight on how to move that piano, and- better still- is there anyone who might volunteer to help move it? It will move from a ground-floor in a house to another ground-floor in a house. Stairs are not involved, except for, I think, two steps going up into the new house.
Any brave takers?
