The Truth About Cats and Dogs was on TV this afternoon. Its a really good movie, very funny, and all that. But I have one major problem with that movie. That problem is that they try to play off that Janeane Garafalo is the ugly chick next to Uma Thurman's hottie (its sort of like the ridiculousness of casting Julia Robers as the "ugly sister" in America's Sweethearts). That just doesn't seem right to me. I mean, I know I'm not a man and all (just in case some of you were wondering), but I guess I have a hard time understand what men look for in terms of a woman's beauty. To be fair, maybe its simply Hollywood's standards. At any rate, I really don't understand it cos if I were forced to choose, I'd much rather look like Janeane Garafalo than Uma Thurman. But that's just me.

(Someone please tell me how to spell "Janeane Garafalo" correctly)

GarafOlo...with an "o"...she's not that funny, i wouldn't worry about it...she had one good role in "Wet, Hot, American Summer" and that was the end of it.

I totally disagree, but that's what makes life so nice- variety!

If I were forced to choose, I'd choose Janeane Garofalo (correct spelling there.:)) in half a second.

I've always thought the same thing. It's crazy, passing her off as ugly when she's obviously not. then again, I'm biased. I've always said that the perfect woman for me, in form, personality, style, etc. has always been Janeane Garofalo. And people have always thought that was odd when I tell them that. Which I guess says a lot about not only what men look for, but what people think men are looking for.

Then again, I was never much for Julia Roberts, so I can buy her as the 'ugly sister'. :P

janeane garofolo is hot, i totally dig her. but i rather like uma thurman as well (pulp fiction, anyone?). so it'd be close, but in the end garofolo would win.

i thought the same thing when i saw the movie myself. besides the fact the garofolo isn't ugly, is uma thurman really a swan to garofolo's presumed ugly duckling? i mean she's cute, granted, but is she up there w/someone similarly waifish, say kate moss, in conventional, physical beauty?

ive never thought so myself... which is why i like thurman, ive always thought of her as quirky... maybe i was wrong and have no concept of what men want either... blah.

Oh, I like Uma Thurman, i think she's a good actress and all. I just don't think she's all that above Janeane Garofolo.

Both Uma and Janeane are smarter than the average Hollywood actor, so they would both be great for conversation. Thinking purely on a guy level, Janeane would be better for pillow talk than Uma, so I'd cast my vote with her.
