One five-stringed electric cello (or viola de gamba?).

Three bows (I think I counted correctly). No, its four.

Four guys.

1/5 of Ravel's Bolero.

(And one string player who actually wears his wedding ring on his left hand!)

I thought a viola de gamba was more of a Renaissance instrument?

That was great. I forwarded it to the cello instructor at UE (where I did my BA).

Sure, but you can electrify anything, really. A five-string cello doesn't exist in the regular classical world either. Whatever this instrument is, its kind of made up.

Viola da gamba is indeed primarily a Renaissance and baroque instrument. It actually has 6 strings.

This is some sort of special 5-string electric cello thingybob. I've seen 5-string violins (which add the viola's low C), but I haven't seen a 5-string cello!

Though, I just did a quick search, and found something quite interesting. There's a company out there who's made a 7-string electric viol...very interesting. But still very different in design than the cello..thing used in that video. Link for the viol: http://www.ruby-gamba.com/index1.html
