Its time to play Broaden Amy's Horizons.

I am now taking recommendations for songs to download (don't tell me to buy any CDs, I am a pauper), movies to watch and books to read. Triple word score for anyone who would like to actually loan me said movies/books. Don't tell me what you think I would like, tell me what you like that I should check out.

Sanx.

Oh no! Look, its a QUIZ!!!!!! )

I want to start sending in some poetry and short fiction to magazines and stuff to get published. I have some addresses of a few magazines such as The New Yorker, but that's kinda high-falutin' stuff and I may not be good enough yet for that kind of stuff. My questions are:

1)Where are good places to send in work? I don't want to deal with 'zines or underground or anything like that- I don't think I have enough teen angst left for that.

2)Isn't there a protocol to follow when sending work in? I vaguely remember learning about cover letters from high school creative writing class, but I don't know if they're always necessary, or how to write one, or anything like that.

3)Is it done to send in more than one piece of work at a time? Should I send several things to see if anyone likes them, or should I send one poem/short story at a time?

4)Uh........ I feel like I should be asking more questions, but I can't think of what......

Anyone have a recording of Schumann's third symphony they'd like to either copy for me or let me borrow?

No, really. Good night.

(yes, it does contain things pertinent to my political and religious beliefs)

Okay. So. [livejournal.com profile] pheret1 already makes fun of me when I get excited about gas prices dropping. But I'm not going to let that thwart my compulsion to come on LiveJournal and wax rhapsodic about shopping at Aldi.

I got enough food for at least a weeks worth of lunches and dinners, plus some snacks and a treat for $25. I'm never shopping elsewhere again. I'm not sure if it was the 33-cent deli meat, or the 89-cent frozen dinners, but frankly, I'm hooked.
