Apr. 22nd, 2003 01:37 pmWell, I finally have to admit that maybe I'm feeling crappy. But I also realized that going back to bed for a couple of hours before I leave for teaching probably is just going to make things worse. Hence, I find myself here at livejournal, attempting to file an update of what's been going on the last few weeks and daintily nibbling on the ears of a chocolate bunny.
So it appears that the allergy problems I was experiencing last week have officially devolved into a cold (see above). For the first time in years, I have a cold that is manifesting itself in a form of laryngitis, which is making teaching interesting. I informed students yesterday that the goal was for them to play more than I had to talk. It seemed to work. Crossing fingers that it works today, too.
My dear sister,
pheret1 has...errr.. ferreted out... the Chicago Peace Museum, which is experiencing major financial crises and may have to close down permanently. She has been volunteering there for the past few weeks, and I intend to join her starting tomorrow. If this is up your alley, or know someone who's alley it would travel, by all means, please do all you can to help them out. I am hoping to get them on board for a BVS project, in which case it would be my first choice project. This would enable me to work with a project I would have some background in and am highly interested in working with, and let me stay in Chicago.
Meds seem to be working really well. Uh.. when I remember to take them... I went back to the doctor for my one-month follow-up visit and found that, as an added perk, I had lost eight pounds in one month. Go me!
Having serious problems trying to reconcile calling myself a Christian with having problems sometimes buying into the whole death and resurrection thing. Must think on this some more....
To my friends who I know are having a rough time-
divalibby76 and
love_alone- hang in there.
Hehe...I guess I'm not going to the Chicago Meetup tonight...
Today is Earth Day. This means Happy Fourteenth Birthday to my baby tree! Well.... I guess its not so much a baby anymore. Makes a mother proud!
Its always flattering to realize that some random but cool-looking person has added me to their friends list. Yay! I have been making all sorts of new friends lately! Welcome!
Bunny doesn't so much resemble a bunny anymore. Time to go.
*poof* I'm gone.

Date: 2003-04-22 07:52 pm (UTC)Hmm.. what to say? i'm not exactly the most charismatic person around; indeed, i've been called everything from "stone cold" to "aloof". But hopefully i managed to eke out some kind of a halfway nice impression upon those people i met in person (many apologies to Ben, Sunday, Vince, Marta, and Libby, as well as Amy's other family members) in the past 2 weeks.
And if not, then i hope at some point maybe i can rehabilitate whatever bad impression i may have made.
As to those whom i did not get to meet in person -- please take everything you hear about me, good and bad and indifferent, with a grain of salt until such time as i can shake your hand or trip over your foot or spill your beer or whatnot.
Hmm... i think i'm out of ramble, other than to mention that my journal is on indefinite hiatus and thus anyone who chances to look at it won't find much. So, for anything anyone may wish to know about me or say to me, simply pass it along to the_hound55@hotmail.com, or through Amy.
In general, and overall, thank you to all those in Chicago who were welcoming and accepting towards me, as i barged into your lives so unceremoniously.
yours,
zeiran r'ei

Date: 2003-04-23 05:06 pm (UTC)Incidentally: i find it interesting that your catchphrase is one i often use myself. And that you identify yourself as a goth, something i sometimes do as well.
But anyway.. nice to meet you, too.
