I can't get away from my asshole/emotionally abusive ex no matter what I do, it seems. Ten years later, it turns we have a mutual friend on Facebook (no, nobody here, so don't scramble to figure out who it is). I don't want to know anything about him, I don't care what he's doing, I don't even care if he's alive, quite frankly; I also don't want him to know where I am, what I'm doing, or how to find me. Part of me is seriously contemplating taking that mutual friend off my list, considering its not someone I would actually interact with these days, anyway.

When it rains, it sure fucking pours.

Have you blocked ex from finding you via Facebook searches?

Oh, actually, never mind.... Googling your name turns up your Twitter and Facebook accounts, and the Twitter username could easily lead him to your blog as well. I'm assuming he knows your name. :) But as for ignoring him, I can definitely see why removing the mutual friend from your friends list would make that easier.

I don't know how to do that, but I will go look. Also, I purposely didn't put my lj on my Twitter, but now I'm kind of paranoid about changing my Twitter account user name. Maybe I'll feel less paranoid tomorrow when I'm not so grumpy.

I've got like 50 friends on facebook in common with my ex-wife -- due, of course, to her obsession with trans women.

You can block just him, and it will be like you don't exist anymore. Same with Twitter if he happens to bother you there. And you can protect your twitter updates by default.

*sends a hug till I see you again*

oh :(

I hope your stalker isn't GECC alum. :(

Well, it's not like she would take it personal, right? Or even notice. I don't think people get a notification when they get taken off the fb friends list. You could always find her later if you wanted to contact her for something.

No. He's a composer. Which he didn't get his ass in gear doing till I encouraged him to do it, and he wouldn't know about Doreen Rao if it weren't for me. Fucker.

That sucks. I'd probably do as others have suggested: block on Facebook. Are you identifiable on Twitter by your real name? Does he know any of your screen names? Most things have a mechanism of locking down entries to 'extremely private', if you can only find it.

I have found that my name comes up in Google searches, not my own page, but as a 'Friend of' people who have their privacy settings less rigid than I do, and I'm not sure that there's a way around that.

I'm not all that worried about Twitter, it has nothing of consequence on it, and I changed my user name so it isn't the same as my LJ, which I'd rather him not get ahold of. Mostly I don't want a way for him to actually try to get ahold of me. I did block him on Facebook.
