Fun fact: Morphine will bring nerve pain from an 8 to a 3, but won't even touch menstrual cramps.

My husband got morphine when he had kidney stones. He said it didn't make it stop hurting, it just made him not care anymore that it hurt.

Yeah, that's how morphine is supposed to work in the brain, but somehow I still cared about my cramps! 'Twas a weird day...

I think it's partly that and partly the huge endorphin rush when the pain lessens. I remember being very blissed out when they dosed me (I was in the ER 3 times last year thanks to kidney stones).

Hope your husband hasn't had any stones since!

I was like that two weeks ago - I had my gall bladder out and it hurt like hell, but after the Morpheine, I really didn't care that it hurt, and I couldn't string a sentence together to tell anyone it hurt still anyway!! LOL

Truly, menstrual cramps are special. In that not good way.

Also, if you need anything, I am actually in town until Tuesday. I assume your housemates totally have you covered, though.

Thank you, that's sweet. Yep, they take pretty good care of me. Plus I'm not thrilled about spreading these germs around to other folks.

Yay for the wonderful people of the 'nidge. And yeah, I will admit that I fear those germs. This sounds a lot like the wischolera, which I only narrowly escaped.

Yeah, I have Tramadol for breakthrough pain, and it doesn't help with cramps, either. Luckily, tylenol worked last night, once I got stuff to stay down- I didn't want to risk ibuprofen on an already irritated stomach.
