huh...

When I was in high school I totally thought when I was 18 I'd be getting a tattoo very similar to that asap...

and then my life changed.... and viola still is a backseat (reluctantly) in my life.

Well, my viola is MUCH more of a backseat than I had ever thought, but its the passion that counts :-) So if the alto clef is still dear to your heart- then go for it!

but that's the thing is... I love my viola very much (and have been missing the occasional babysitting job for one of my high school's instruments [it was nicknamed "big red"] I loved it.) but I think I might be bitter if I'd gone through with getting the tattoo because it would literally be a scar of something in my past that I regret.

Namely that I couldn't get my act together and commit to it, which on the one hand is a good sign that I wasn't on the right path. but does hurt because I did have *some* talent on the instrument that does come back in bursts when I try and I hurt too much and then I don't touch it for another three months. it's a vicious cycle.

and one of the things I've said is that I was never going to get a tattoo that I'd regret for whatever reason (you know that whole never get a boyfriends name, or actually strangely enough any fandom you have. [I also totally thought at the same time as I was going to get the viola clef I was going to get a really fancy script Lestat de Lioncourt "autograph" tattoo once. boy yeah don't want that any more.])
