This is the closest I think I have ever felt to being happy at someone else's demise. And I don't feel particularly guilty for feeling that way.


Henry Hyde- former congressman, Clinton impeacher, Hypocrite- dies at age 83


He was my representative- for various values of actually having "represented" me- for the eighteen years I lived in Wheaton. I found I could actually breathe a little easier once I moved in to Jan Schakowsky's district. From one of the most conservative congresspeople ever to one of the most liberal congresspeople ever- yay!

You're not alone, not by a long shot. There was that briefest flash of "...and boy I'm a horrible person for having just thought that", but then again, it'd probably have been mutual, so I'm good with it now...

I was at work when I saw the news and I said, aloud, "It's about fucking time he died." My co-workers asked who I was talking about and when I told them, they didn't have a clue who he was. I didn't feel bad about my thoughts in the slightest. Also, yay for Jan Schakowsky! I'm also in her district and it's great to get those form letters from her whenever I write about something that concens me saying how she agrees with me.
