Missing Chicago woman

The last time anybody saw Nailah Franklin was Sunday; the last time anybody heard from her was a brief text message conversation on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, she failed to show up for a business meeting. She has been missing ever since. This morning, Saturday, her car was found in the Hammond, Indiana/Calumet City area, but there are no indications of where she might be.

Anyone who may have information on her whereabouts are asked to contact the Chicago police department.

On a personal note, I'm giving it about another day to see if she actually gets the kind of national attention white women get when they disappear or I'm sending pissed off op-eds to every major newspaper I can think of.

Please keep this woman and her family in your prayers.

I hope she does get national recognition. She looks so beautiful and so full of life. It would break my heart if the American media/public ignored her.

The American media is famous for covering the disappearances of beautiful, rich, and usually blonde women, and passing totally over all the other women. I'd love to see that change, and soon.

It does suck that they pass over the other women though. Everyone should have equal coverage no matter who they are or what they look like. :(

I don't watch TV news, so I am not sure about that. A google news search brings up a few items- the main being the Trib, and the Chicago Southtown, but mostly internet hits. Thanks for giving a heads-up to the minneapolis paper.

A story about her is linked from the front page of the Sun Times today. Under "Metro and Tri-State" it's the top story, and the headline is "Marine Unit searches for woman." So it looks like the story is getting more attention. (If this is because you nagged them, you'd tell us, right?)
