Well, as their nice little society crumbles around them they have to have SOMETHING to latch onto. And it's easier (and safer, in terms of legal fees) to criticize comparatively powerless illegal immigrants instead of corporate robber barons.
I wouldn't exactly endorse it either, but I wouldn't call it racist. Though that doesn't mean a number of people's reasons for participating aren't racist.
no, I didn't see the facebook page, that may change my analysis a bit. But being discriminatory based on "which side of an imaginary line they were born on" is not, by definition, racist. It's nationalist, which is a different sort of prejudicial heresy. Still, mind you, a prejudicial heresy, but different from racism per se.
...I support the University's non-condemnation of this as much as I would support their non-condemnation of their theatre department's production of Hair.
