... what's the point of us having a separate address from the church if no one ever actually delivers to us here?

So, it had been a single residence with a garage/barn for at least 40 years. The garage/barn occasionally recieved resident/owner/occupant mail because at some point in its history, it had an address because it had been a mortuary.
