violachic: (be the change)

A couple of weeks ago I was browsing on the IKEA website looking at all the things I want but can't afford to buy. While just playing around, I all of a sudden stumbled upon something that I realize is basically what I'm trying to do with my bedroom. Unfortunately, the website wouldn't let me "save image", so I have to link to the IKEA website itself. If you go here, then at the bottom click on "Orient Express" (the orange one), you'll see it.

[livejournal.com profile] subdermalglow, [livejournal.com profile] sleepykins, and [livejournal.com profile] tanyad will, I think, see my vision, as they helped with last year's Big Redecorate (read: clean) Amy's Room project. [livejournal.com profile] fictionslave and [livejournal.com profile] strawberry83 may also be seeing the vision, as they were here when the discussion of paint was first had. I got some paint chips, by the way, I just need to find them.

Except this is the bedframe I've been wanting. It even has matching bedside tables. I already have a yellow-ish mosquito netting that [livejournal.com profile] subdermalglow and [livejournal.com profile] priestlygoth got me for my birthday last year. This is what my bedroom at the old apartment looked like about a year ago.

I have no idea how I'm going to do this 1) on a CPT stipend, and 2) disabled. I was hoping to lobby for IKEA gift cards for my birthday from my family, but it didn't happen, even remotely. Before my mom left for Palestine, she was making noises like when she got back she might just buy me the damned bed frame, but so far.... nothing. But we'll see. I'm pretty excited about the idea of doing something pretty to my bedroom.

Please note: I will be recruiting. Raise your hands if you want to help. Please also note that I still have five boxes that need to be unpacked. Bleh.

I have no good way of ending this post. So I'm just going to go away.

Bye.

I know you meant the "orient express" view, but it came up for me as the white one...

Its a work in progress.

If you have the free time to be online, you're probably free for a phone call? Let me find my cell phone and test that theory.

If I can get a ride, and be guaranteed a soft chair, I'm in :-D

I'd love for you to come over Monday, unpacking or not.

I can guarantee a nice soft futon! or the computer chair, its comfy and has wheels, sort of soft. Check with Marta, she's planning on coming by.

I sent the evite to your hotmail, but it bounced back. Feel free to invite others in the household as well.

I am still available for unpacking and redecorating. The "vision" shot from IKEA rocks - we could totally make that happen, with some serious purging. And if you ever do get that bed, it would work too.

Okay. Want to come over one day for lunch and we can sketch out plans- literally and non-literally?

Besides, kind of dying to have lunch with you right now anyway..... eep!!!

If you can see it on a website, you can hit Ctrl-Printscreen and have an image of it in the Windows clipboard. Open up Paint, or Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop or whatever other image manipulation program you have and choose 'Paste' and you'll see the website window as an image. So, you don't need a 'save image' option.

I can be available to help with redecorating stuff although I will need notice to schedule time.

I'll let you know when (if) it becomes more of a reality :-) How do you feel about painting?

From: [identity profile] grahamwest.livejournal.com
Well I'm not as passionate about it as my friend Mary who has arranged her entire life around oil painting.

Oh wait that's not quite what you meant.

Yes I'm fine with helping to paint your room.

We're still totally down with helping you paint....just let us know when, and if you need help getting the paint, etc etc

Well, as I mentioned, I did pick up some paint samples when we were at Meijer, but I'm not sure where in this wreck of a room they are. So as soon as I find them I need to do a serious color analysis. Anyone who has a good eye for this is welcome, especially as I will be choosing colors in a wise variety of the warm-color spectrum.

Besides, don't you guys have bakers-clay sculptures to paint at this house...?
