Kitty UpdateWell,
subdermalglow and
priestlygoth rushed Sweetness to the vet emergency on Clybourn last night, where they confirmed that yes, there are crystals. It seems like just about every male cat I've known or known of has had this at one point or another, at varying degress of seriousness. They said that it was due to too much magnesium in the diet. They transferred him to the regular vet this morning, who is keeping him for 48 hours, although I'm not certain exactly what they're doing. I know he has a catheter in, and when they take it out, they want to observe him to make sure it isn't going to come back.
The house is very empty without him. I hope he comes home soon, and completely healthy.
Me UpdateI'm okay. About the same. Although after a really rough 36 hours or so Friday/Saturday, yesterday turned out to go really well.
sleepykins was kind enough to come pick me up for the 11:00 Easter service, after which I was able to partake in the brunch in fellowship hall. It was really good to see people, and I got lots of hugs, even though everyone who hugs me seems to be really scared of hugging me. It was an interesting song-and-dance sometimes :-)
I went home, played some Sims, and took a nap. Then
polyfrog arrived to chauffeur me to the party
pam and
spot were hosting as a triple-threat housewarming party and combined birthday party for
pam and
unhipster. I was so very, very happy to attend, and again to see people, meet new folks, and get to know a few casual acquaintances a little better. Promptly I arrived,
pam kicked poor
spot out of his comfy chair so I could sit in it and be served. And, of course, got to play the Hugging Game again, which mostly consisted of my saying "watch your left arm!", and the hugger going "wha... huh? Oh, sorry!".
But, of course, it took its toll, and today I slept till 3:30 again, and have pain. In fact, I have some weird twinges that are starting up from time to time. Can't wait for the new meds to kick in! I also seem to be extra exhausted, simply exhausted. I've barely been awake for five hours, and I'm ready to go back to bed. Maybe I'll force myself to watch a movie before I crash out, though. At least I don't have to go out again till Wednesday, so I have some time to save up spoons.
I'd love to see people, though, so if anyone wants to drop by- especially during the day, but any time is great- please let me know. I'm getting quite stir-crazy sitting at home. Just call me ahead of time, or make an appointment to make sure I'm awake.
Th...th...that's all, folks!

Date: 2006-04-18 02:22 am (UTC)The kind of food I've been using for a dozen or more years is Hills CD for cats. It's only available by prescription so your friends would have to get it through a vet, or perhaps their vet could recommend something similar. It's about three times as expensive as commercial cat food, but definitely worth it for someone whose male cat is prone to this condition and who wants to keep the cat.
Glad to hear you've found a way to enjoy a bit of a social/spiritual communion life despite your illness. The "spoon theory" really does help parcel activities out.
I hope your new meds kick in soon too. :)
