Jan. 24th, 2006 12:07 pmSo my frustrations with this living broke living simply thing, and the fact that I'm well ensconced outside the musical circles I once was beginning to broach kind of came to a bit of a head last night.
I received a postcard in the mail from the CSO about an all-Brahms concert next month. With Mehta conducting, and Barenboim on the piano. I absolutely love Brahms, despite the fact that I mildly disapprove of his viola sonatas. Brahms, to me, is like a down comforter- warm, comfortable, homey, thick and squishy, and appropriate for many seasons.
So I really wanna go. But the cheapest seats- in thenosebleed gallery- start at $29, and where I want to sit- the lower balcony- starts at $69.
Whatever happened to trying to make the arts accesible to all? But that's a different story...
Anyway. I'm starting to think I could easily blow several months worth of entertainment budget on a ticket to this.
Ya can't win 'em all.
