violachicI have booked my very first official speaking engagement as a Big Girl CPTer. A church in my neighborhood called looking for a speaker, and I thought that it would be a good thing to take, considering its in my community and all. I've passed the church, and I've seen their big banner proclaiming that they're against nuclear weapons, and their pink upside-down triangle, so I realized they must be a progressive church. Plus, I hate public speaking, so I know I need to practice. Its the first Sunday in February. I'm a little nervous.

I had a really bizarre dream last night involving someone on my LJ Flist (someone who I've known IRL for some time now) who will- oh yes, WILL- remain nameless. It was involving, among other things, falling in love and getting married. It was truly strange, and completely out of left field. I'm going to give myself another twenty minutes to shake my head vigorously and go "what the...??", and then I'm going to put it out of my mind.

Hey, I think I'm slowly starting to re-enter the real world. I'm purposely taking all weekend off of everything and sleeping, and hopefully next week I'll start resuming regular activities, like, you know, seeing people. Wouldn't this be grand?

Our church has a new curate. An email went out telling us about this person, with a short bio. At the end of the bio he writes "...the films of Mizoguchi, Kurosawa and Spielberg have influenced my spiritual journey...", and my very first instinct was to go All riiiight, he's a geek!.

Rain makes me sleepy. Especially cold, constant rain. I'm ready for a nap.

I've started a new cycle of watching Firefly episodes. Just because. I watched the first four over the last week, and I was completely shocked to realize that I didn't remember much from the "Serenity" episode, remembered things wrong from "The Train Job", and remembered really nothing at all from "Bushwhacked". Weird. "Bushwhacked" is now one of my favorite episodes, which I am actually finding really morbid.

Date: 2006-01-13 09:53 pm (UTC)I'm going to try to start coming to church again regularly myself, but so far its been a huge chore to drag myself out of bed on Sunday mornings. Since I've gotten home six freaking weeks ago, it seems to be the best time for me to actually sleep in. Feb. 5th is the day I'm at the United Church of Rogers Park for a speaking thing, and this Sunday I got invited to a church where a CPT friend of mine has just started a pastorate, up on Howard. We'll see. I miss All Saints, and I miss singing. And I miss you guys.
