So over last summer, I lost my wallet. I'm not the kind of person who loses wallets. It had only happened to me one time before, in my life. And even that was eventually found and returned to me.
Last summer it was eventually returned to me to, after having been turned in at the security desk at a hospital down the street. But, of course, not before I canceled everything.
So when I got a new Chicago Card, I thought I changed the credit card information that went along with it. I was either a) apparently wrong, or b) right, and the Chicago Card people suck.
Either way, when I went to go use the bus over the weekend, it was marked invalid, and only for the kindness of the bus driver was I allowed to ride. Then, I got a call from the credit card company, saying that CTA was trying to post bills to my old credit card. The one I haven't used since July. They knew this was a legitimate expense, since I had been linking my Chicago Card to this credit card for almost a year before my wallet was lost. They just hadn't really bothered to do anything about it till now.
So one of the things my work does to help ease the pain of working for a "stipend" instead of a "paycheck" is pay my transportation. Hence, the Chicago Card Plus linked to the work credit card. However, there is not additional cash added into my check every month for stupidity like this. So I've been trying to scrape together some cash every time I have to take the el or the train. Its irritating. It seriously eats into my Iced Coffee budget.
So I logged onto the CCPlus website yesterday to change the credit card information. Realized I almost never use this website, and I had no idea what my user info or my password was. So I filled out that form that will automatically send you a new user info and password.
I have waited 24 hours. I still haven't received the information. I had to pay cash-out-of-pocket again last night and this morning in order to go anywhere.
Right after a fairly significant rate hike is not a good time to have this happen. Its never a good time to have it happen, but this is a less good time. No cash transfers, my ass.
At any rate, I'm still waiting, after emailing the CTA Help line twice, to see if I can remedy this situation.
Not a happy camper, and running quickly out of cash.
Bah!
Someday maybe I'll have a normal life. But then again, maybe not.
*sigh*
days like this my icon feels like it really fits

Date: 2006-01-11 07:11 pm (UTC)But can't I just go on "normal" vacation, for, like, two weeks? Then it will be out of my system, I swear.
