Did I mention I had an enormous layover in Milan on my way to Palestine?

You haven't looked too closely have you? Lol. It already is. We ran out of room for roadspace.

Mille grazie!

Ach. Want. To. Go.

I took two semesters of Italian in college from some woolheaded notion of wanting to be able to translate Dante. I wasn't a very good student in that class, and don't remember a lick of it.

But I still want to trek off to Firenze and hand out on the Ponte Vecchio with a bottle of grappa some day.

The only Italian I know are musical terms... which, oddly enough ;-) actually mean something in conversational Italian, albeit something different.

I have never tasted grappa. I'm not entirely certain what it is.

The pics are freaking Amazing. You can tell we were trying to copy european cities in America. My german/french friend ria says, "You americans are just trying to copy the french, you have no character of your own yet."

"Sure we do", "McDonalds"

I haven't looked closely enough.

I keep telling people in downtown SF that they should block the streets to car traffic and let all our resturants and shops open up into the streets. The yuppies in the high rise buildings should be able to walk a few more blocks for the pleasure of having a cool bohemian center of town. It'd be like Paris, I tell them...

I've tasted it (ick) and I feel the same way. Its made from pressed skins and the seeds of grapes.

Oh, I've not had it, either. I'm told it's rather vile, actually.

Yeah I have. Well.. actually no. To both have i been but not to the centres. It was an odd antitourism point / laziness point we made im sure.

They mgiht flourish in london but.. well heck.. london even to the outskirts is crazy enough as it is... if you were to pedestrianise some of the centre streets i think it would be suicide.
