Hey sorry about your lust problems. I saw this and thought of you...you should do it :)
INTERNATIONAL BIKE RIDE IN ISRAEL - MAY 9-16
Join more than 150 riders on the 300-mile Arava Institute Hazon Israel Ride, May 9-16, from Jerusalem to the southern tip of Israel. In "Cycling for Peace, Partnership & Environmental Protection," the ride benefits a masters program in environmental education at the Arava Institute. Arava Institute trains and educates Israeli Jews, Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Jordanians to be a new generation of leaders in the Middle East and to work together toward peace and environmental protection in the region. To join the Midwest team, please contact Ben Shamir at bshamir@jnf.org or (847) 656-8880. For more information, visit www.israelride.org.
I can get you in shape for it no problem. It's not NEARLY as hard as it sounds. I've always wanted to go to Israel anyway! Train together, ride together...if you're interested. It's a good cause.
When's good for you this weekend? We need to get started soon if we're gonna be ready for this thing. Have you emailed about the Midwest team info? I still need to.
As for the where bit...probably somewhere near one of us or in between (I'm down by Lincoln Square). Since I don't have a car, it'll have to be somewhere transit-accessible (I'm not QUITE crazy enough to ride outdoors in this weather).
BTW, I tried calling, but I hear there's some CPT training going on, and you're not at home.
Well, I'm still intimidated by logistics, but I'll agree to a cup of coffee to let you talk me into it :-)
I'm free all of Sat and Sun, except I'm probablyg oing to sleep in on Sat, and waffling about attending church on Sun. If you call and leave a message at my house (complete w/ your phone number!) I can give you a call back. I should be home by 10 at the latest tonight, too.
Yeah, there's cult indoctrination training going on right now, crazy crazy crazy!
Oh yeah... I'm public trans dependent, too, so... maybe somewhere off the red line or the clark bus, those are pretty central, I think? I could be wrong :-)
Saturday mornings I take a Kung Fu class in Highland Park, so don't worry about sleeping late. I promise not to growl at you for losing my number and I'll call your house a little later to leave my number ;)
The logistics are really not all that scary...I'm in awful shape right now, but it really only takes a few months to get into shape to ride. The real question is how much it will cost.
I'll call youwhenI get up :-) Sorry- we really should have more than oneworking phone at a time in this house, esp. if the one phone is a cordless......
Sorry I just kinda abruptly decided it was time to head, but those yawns turned into sheer exhaustion rather suddenly (I realized if I came up, I'd probably not make it back home and the doggie would miss me).
I had a lot of fun...we should go to Syriana (if your schedule allows time for lil ole me :P) I promise I won't pass out! (Saturdays are my only "tired" day when I'm not training)
You know... I pretty much went home, at something for dinner, read for a little while and passed out. Probably was a good thing we parted ways :-) I know how it goes with doggies, I just don't have one right now :-(
I'd really like to make Syriana. Wednesday very well may be my only free night this week, would that work for you? Give me a call if you'd like.
