Dec. 4th, 2005 10:35 pmSo my last week in the country certainly has proved to be a doozy. If you're somehow unaware (head in the sand, much?) of what's going on, please reference the CPT website.
Other than that, we had a real shit week in Tuwani.
Plus, I hate saying goodbye. Its hard enough for me to make functional relationships, it seems so stupid to have to let them go. I know that when I come back on project the villagers will still be there (insh'allah), but for some reason I'm terrified that the friends I've made in Jerusalem will somehow either not be here when I get back, or completely forget about me.
I never said I was rational.
Just a few more hours.
I'd rather that this experience become a regular thing in my life, rather than just "an experience". We'll have to see what happens.
Now I'm off to lose my last game of pool.
Halas. Goodnight.

Ok, my arabic sucks. I never learned any past tense.
I added you too. What are the chances, really?
Re: Been there...
Date: 2005-12-09 10:45 pm (UTC)You've totally hit my limit of understanding Arabic. Except for "mumkin biscott?" which the kids in the village say to us all the time....
So.... ana fi amirka. Uh... Tuwani... uh... (south of) Al-Khalil... the rest of it I'm unsure of....
Atini shekel?
Re: Been there...
Date: 2005-12-09 10:47 pm (UTC)Biscott.... shuu biscott?
I've lost so much Arabic in the last two years I'm ashamed.
You're in Palestine or the states at present?

El hamdilallah. Allah yselmhom.

Date: 2005-12-09 11:20 pm (UTC)I'm quite fond of the city, the camp, and the region in general.
I never really travelled myself. I little here and there for logistical matters and a two day break in Beit Sahour, but that's it.
Qalundia. Pooh. I've only seen photos of the new verion. Huwwarra is something to behold too, from what I've seen.
I would have loved to get to Hebron. Maybe next time.
