Jul. 18th, 2005 11:47 amSo I'm home, safe and sound and relatively sane. I got in around 10:30 on Saturday night, which considering the delays I had, was pretty good. Luckily, after the rain decided to back off in Eastern Indiana, it was very smooth sailing. In fact, this was the first time I've ever been on the Skyway without encountering traffic backup of any kind, and one of the rare times there hasn't been any construction at all. I did the Stoney Island-to-LSD thing, and was home in under half an hour.
I was amazed at how spending twelve and a half hours doing nothing but sitting behind a wheel of a car can really exhaust you.
So. Here are some pictures. I'm becoming a picture fiend, too. If for some reason you take exception to that, you should probably take it up with
mofus, 'cos he's the one who allowed me to have the camera.
WARNING: LOTS of pictures behind cuts!

And then I stopped taking pictures of the El, because I started to be afraid I'd get reported to Homeland Security by a Vigilant Passerby.
A week ago Saturday,
polyfrog and I took a day trip up to Madison. While neither goal he wanted to accomplish were, well, accomplished, it was a nice, relaxing day.

A plethora of Chucks

Even Converse gets into the swing of All Things Peace

My First Chucks- training wheels optional

The Capitol building- because it was there

A little girl who I was trying get a picture of actually eating the ice cream out of her mother's hand, but she noticed the camera and decided to mug for it, instead

Some street corner with a cool building. I bet some of you will recognize it, and can then tell me which corner it is.
All pictures are from the weekly vigil held at the Goshen courthouse from noon to 1 p.m. The short, feisty-looking lady in a tan hat is my mother. I'm not in any of the photos since I'm the one behind the camera.

The gentleman engaged in discussion with my mother is a Vietnam veteran who took exception to the "Love Your Enemies Means Don't Kill Them" sign. He says that reading that could hurt the veterans too much, because they had killed people. We actually kind of agreed with him, and they decided not to use it anymore. It was the first time. Usually it is just the "mourn the dead" sign.

Seniors for Peace!

KOA- Kampgrounds of America. Hurts my spelling sensibilities.

Our "Kamping Kabin". Except for the little orange, plastic thing with the numbers on it pasted to the front, I started to feel as if I should be wearing a sunbonnet and using the word "Injun".

Family grave. Great-grandparents, grandparents, and now the Eccentric Great-Uncle (not yet listed)

Neiderstein's Restaurant. Gone out of business after over 150 years. Rumored to be replaced by an Arby's.

Random gravestone with a rock on top. A curiosity, since that is a Jewish tradition and this is a Lutheran cemetery.

The above pictures were all taken from the driver's seat as I was sitting on the I-80 Parking Lot in Central Pennsylvania

The walrus that sits perpetually on the dashboard- he's a good listener

Random, artistic-looking picture, not sure where or when taken, but I think it looks cool

Midwesterners, do you recognize this sight? In former times, we referred to it as rain. Does that ring a bell?
