Oct. 15th, 2002 11:58 pmYESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Low Sodium Entertainment is back!! Who's with me???? I saw them over the summer and they were hilarious. Apparently they were going through some changes the last couple months because they were really hard to track down. But I just checked their website, and they seem to be up and rolling once again. I wanna go! I wanna go!
I got a postcard today from my friend Meghan, who was interning at the church this summer. She has been studying in Kenya this semester. It sounds like its going really really well, and she might even have a boyfriend out there. I am really excited for her. She'll be in Chicago over Christmas, and I hope to get together with her then. Some of you guys can come too, if you promise not to scare her. She's really sweet.
Something kind of sad occurred to me recently. I think this might be one of the reasons why I want to work with kids so badly. It occurred to me that there are a lot of very intelligent, gifted people out there who don't get a chance to live to their potential due to obstacles thrown down at them in their childhood or adolescenthood. I know some people that had such fucked up upbringings. There are too many people who have to worry about simply surviving instead of being able to develop wonderful gifts. It makes me sad, it also makes me angry. I guess. If I have a right to be angry on their behalf. Which I probably don't. But I can be angry when I see one of my students get stunted- whether for some kind of abuse, or due to some sort of tragedy, or just because no one ever told them they were good enough. Thankfully, I don't see a lot of that in my kids, but unfortunatly, sometimes I see it in people I meet. People who mess with kids should be taken out back and shot between the eyes. And that's coming from a pacifist.
Anyway.... that's my weekly soap box....
I hope you're all having a wonderful week so far!
*poof* I'm gone!
