Jeebus, Libby- like my life needs to be more eventful these days (said in her best old Jewish lady accent)?

At any rate, I had a good time.

Speaking of Jeebus, can I borrow that book you bought last night? [livejournal.com profile] dustytm has posted some very funny excerpts from said book recently, and I am impatient to rip it open and eat it for breakfast.

I was folly enough to decide last night that I'd rather sleep on the black couch than the fold-out bed. Big mistake that will never be made again. I apparently ended up on the floor, then went back to the couch. As Sunday said this morning, "You slept in so many different places, I thought your name was Sunday". Now, that's telling. Let me rephrase something: I apparently ended up on the floor a couple different times.

I think I could use a nap, but I'm not sure.

For a few months, I've been running two Neopets accounts. I created one account with one pet, and adopted three more. Then I thought it would be fun to have some other species about, so I created another account with one pet, and adopted three more. I have come to my rope's end dealing with eight Neopets, so I have decided to consolidate. I sent everything from my one account over to the other, I'm selling a bunch of stuff, giving away extra petpets (see my post at [livejournal.com profile] nplj_guild), etc etc....

Then comes the part where you have to dump your pets at the pound. Eep. Even though I know they're completely computer generated, something in me feels really guilty. Who knew it would be so hard to get rid of a few icons on a computer screen? I am, however, using it as an exercise in Trying Not to be so Pathetic About Things.

In all seriousness, though- it compares nothing to the- well, I won't call it pain, exactly, but it was definitely a dull ache- I experienced as I purged all my former students' names out of my cell phone directory last Friday afternoon. I really miss the kids, and I wish there were a way I could get them back. But seeing how I have tried repeatedly to contact them and no one has called me back, I'm pretty certain the psycho lady at the music store has intimidated them into not contacting me. Which is wrong on so very many levels. My mother has told me that she thinks its a matter of my pride and repuation, and that I should fight for them. But I think its a matter of not flaming things worse than they are, and a matter of not traumatizing the kids any more than she might already have. I'm sure she's said a plethora of bad things about me, but.... oh well. So I'm willing to let it go, because its not worth it on anyone's end.

But I miss the kids.

Tomorrow night is [livejournal.com profile] bethypooh95's birthday party at Sal's. There are a lot of us who either can't make it, or can only be there for awhile, so if you can make it out, I'm sure it would make her extremely happy. Meet at Sal's around 9:30 for Karaoke and all sorts of other interesting libations.

Symphonic Pops season is this week! There are three concerts, all doing the same material (I won't know exactly what's on the program till we get to rehearsal tomorrow afternoon). I would really love it if some people would drop by with a lawn chair and a picnic to hear us play. We are a 100% professional/union/non-amateur group, so we're good. We're also FREEFREEFREEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its a great event for a date, even!

Wow. My PR needs work....... but anyway. Hope to see some of you there. I know that [livejournal.com profile] divalibby76, [livejournal.com profile] rincewindrocks and [livejournal.com profile] _narcissis_ are going to Springfield with me on Sunday. Mary, I'll catch ahold of you tonight before you leave work so we can talk about details, 'k?

Last week, I got a surprise IM. Years and years and at least six lifetimes ago I worked at this toy store. Its location here doesn't exist anymore (feeding my theory that whenever I quit working somewhere, it can't handle it and subsequently the business folds), but they do have three other stores in the Chicago area. Its a really high-class, fancy-shmancy kind of place. So when I was working there, I got to be friends with some of the high school kids that I was in charge of (I was one of two assistant managers, but the manager was an idiot, so we kinda ran the place). There was one in particular that I got along with well. So I was her boss, and I even "bought" for her several times. Cos I'm evil like that. Anyway...... she's been away at college, and periodically when she's home for summer break, she'll call me and we'll have dinner or go to a movie or something. But now she's all gradeeeated 'n schtuff, and is home for good now. So last week she IMed me to say hi, and tonight we are meeting for dinner and possibly a movie. Wheeeeee! Its so fun to watch them all grow up. And now she's even over 21 so I don't have to risk my neck buying alcohol for her anymore. Double wheeeee!!!!!!!
