There's nothing quite as amusing nor as comforting as the look of sympathy in the eyes of the cashier at Walgreens as you're purchasing a package of pads and a fairly large bag of dark chocolate.

I think I may have an ear infection.  Either that, or I just have a whole heck of a lot of fluid built up in my ear canal, cos it REALLY HURTS.  The only reason I doubt I actually have an infection is that I don't have a raging headache (as I usually do with an ear infection) and, to my knowledge I'm not running any fever.  I really hope its not an infection.  Trying to to go the doctor and get prescriptions when you don't have health insurance is a bitch and a half.

Damn.  One of my student's mom said she Googled me the other day.  If this is going to start, I really have to start watching the things I do that may get me listed on the internet. As far as I know, my full name isn't listed anywhere on LJ that isn't friends-protected.  If someone runs across something that suggests differently, please let me know ASAP.  Sanx.

The only thing I actually want for Christmas is a ticket to the new LOTR movie next week.

I have just discovered how to make entries via the "Rich Text" mode.  So far, its lots of fun!  More interestingly colored entries to come, I'm sure.

If you go into your info options, (http://www.livejournal.com/editinfo.bml) there is a checkbox labeled "Block Robots/Spiders from indexing your journal"

Make sure that is checked, and your LJ shouldn't show up on law abiding index engines.

Just a note that checking the box only keeps robots from indexing your journal itself. It may still index the "userinfo" page. And worse, it may index the journals/userinfo pages of communities you're part of. So, it's not all completely hidden.

But sometimes going to the movies alone can be fun. Or at least I find it to be. In fact, I tend to enjoy going to a movie by myself. But I'm weird, so who knows?

1) When you're on the full update page, right under where you type the body of your journal entry, there's this link that says something like "Rich Text Mode here" or a reasonable facsimile.
