So I played a concert this afternoon. I was quite pleased with the way the day played itself out, especially considering last night I felt like I was going to die. My dad not only came to the concert, taking advantage of the one comp ticket I get, but took me out to Illuminati's... er... Lou Malnati's pizza for dinner afterwards (is Lou Malnati's a Chicago thing, or are they franchised?). I ended up having to play the whole second half of the concert without my shoulder rest, even after a quick dash back to the dressing room to search for it- turns out it was sitting on the chair where I had set my viola down to turn in music after the first half. Good thing, too, as I can't afford to replace it right now. Those babies run a good twenty-five dollars! Lucky I can play a whole Schumann symphony without a shoulder rest. Had it been Shostakovich or Stravinsky or something, I possibly would have been in a bit of trouble. And the best thing? Somewhere in about a month or so, I will be receiving a rather scrawny paycheck out of the whole deal. Christmas gigs can't come upon me soon enough!

It looks like the Great Cabinet Refinishing project is finally coming to a close. I must have sanded fifteen cabinet doors yesterday- front, back and edges- and I think my jeans have white dust permanently ground into them. Big apologies to [livejournal.com profile] splagxna for not showing up last night- I did indeed think I might just die. I was in much pain. Well, I was either in pain, or passed out due to the massive amounts of ibuprofen I was taking to relieve said pain. Am much better now.

I won't say too much about Friday night, because I'm still enormously pissed off at Moviefone and the theater for screwing over [livejournal.com profile] hellfaerie on her tickets. If I had known, I would have been more than happy to sacrifice my ticket for you. But I think a well-planned letter-writing campaign might be in order. The one big highlight of my Friday night was noticing that we were right across the street from the Curl Up And Dye hair salon. I have located yet another Blues Brothers Chicago landmark! I'm still on the lookout for Ray's Music Exchange, though. If anyone has a heads up on that one, I'd much appreciate being notified.

I now have a whole shelf in my laundry room dedicated to refugee socks. I am on a laundry marathon, and intend to match as many socks as I can in the next week or so. Gee. I feel like Chuck Woolery (sp?). Yeah.

Um.

That is all.

Lou Malnati's is a Chicago thing. They have several locations, but they are all owned by the same people, not franchised; They saw what happened to the Uno's reputation when they franchised it, and decided not to do that. You can get Lou's frozen to go, or shipped fed-ex, but the only place to sit doen and order Lous is in the Chicago area.

I think I much prefer Lou Malnati's to Uno/Due. And its not just because I can make believe that I'm eating in a pizzeria run by the Illuminati.

Many people do. I think the pizza at Lou's is just very slightly better than the pizza at the original Uno and Due. And lightyears better than the stuff at any of the Uno franchises. Phegh.

And its not just because I can make believe that I'm eating in a pizzeria run by the Illuminati.
Make believe?

Hey, there's no need to feed the paranoia now, is there?
