I think the disturbing part is not the research itself (which, IMHO, shows only that old traditions die hard), but the way the author ends it. "Nya-nya, I always knew boys were better".
In fact, the guy seems to have a serious obsession with how children are the root of all evil - according to another article of it, they're the root cause that gays smoke more.
And the fun goes on - another of his titles: "Why Men Pay To Stay Married And women pay to get divorced"
If you combine that with the interesting fact that he's got a daughter, and he never mentions having a wife, you can draw your own conclusions. But even outside the marriage/children area, the man seems to be a crackpot. Choice quote of the day:
"Forcing labor and environmental standards down people's throats does nothing to elevate them out of poverty. Instead, it forces poor people to buy a lot of rich man's toys, like clean air, clean water and leisure time."
"Rich man's toys", indeed. So don't get too upset by reading this guy - he's a bit , uh, strange.
I'm not personally too upset by reading this- I mean, I know its bullshit. I'm kind of upset (if that's even the right word, it seems a little extreme) that these opinions still exist. Bleurgh. Sometimes I forget that being an idealist means you think the dark ages are over ;-)
