So a couple times I have posted poetry in chicagopoets, for feedback and stuff. I've had some nice comments, and some very helpful comments. But sometime today, somebody simply wrote "There is something about this poem I don't like". Ummm.... okay. You're entitled. I've never said I was trying to get everyone to like what I write. But is it really worth either of our time for you to be an asshole about it? Seems quite immature. Part of me wants to give him what for, but since I'm a chicken, I probably won't. Which is probably a good thing.



The DMV seems intent on giving me the mindfuck of the decade. So far I've been told three different things, and that's after I went to two different facilities and called yet a third. Now I am on the phone with the main Chicago facility, and have been on hold for about half an hour. In the spirit of Talk Like a Pirate Day, I will say aaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I was extraordinarily irritated (due to outside influences) when I read it, and also when I subsequently posted this. Perhaps that doesn't earn him asshole status, but I still don't understand why, if all you're going to say is "I don't like it", you'd say anything at all.

Yup, that's all he wrote. I agree...not the nicest commentary. Since I made the rule that people should be more honest and that it is not as necessary to be nice, I can't really, in good faith, say anything to him. But know that I agree - that wasn't cool. Blanket statements like that don't help anyone...all it does is hurt feelings. I have no idea what is with this whole elitist thing where people who write refuse to realize that writing, for some, is about putting your soul down on a page...and therefore, having that shared with you deserves respect of that soul and a bit of handling with care. Is that such a new or foreign concept?

Heh.... thanks.... actually, I'm not really all that upset about it, but I appreciate what you said. But yeah, I can understand about your thing about being honest and all. I'm certainly not going to say anything, because its not worth starting a flame war over. I was just already pissed off about something when I got that comment. But I just had a rocky road sundae with Dark Chocolate topping at Ghirardelli's, so I feel a whole lot better.

And thanks for your feedback, too. I'll try to keep tightening it up. I know its kind of a cliche/passe subject matter, but I'm trying to keep it as teen-angst free as possible.

That sounds good...serious comfort food. *hehe* I've never had any Ghiradelli's...anything. But it sounds delightful.
