I got on the wrong fucking train coming out of the city tonight. I blindly walked onto the first train that pulled into my stop, and ended up on the 54/Cermak train instead of the Forest Park train. Which is where my car was parked. Forest Park, that is. So I gamely got off the train at 18th St., waited for another train headed back to the city, got off that train at Racine, which is where one transfers from train to train, and waited yet again for the correct train to come by and whisk me back to my car.

I don't live in the city, so I suppose I don't take the el as often as some people. But I've been taking the el by myself for years. I can't decided whether to be bemused that I let it happen, or happy that its only happened three times (the first time I realized it after only one stop, so I didn't have to transfer, I only had to get off the train and wait for another. The second time I realized it as the train was headed uphill. This time I got all the way to 18th St.).

At any rate, I'm home and happy and kinda sleepy. I won't be going anywhere particularly early tomorrow.

Thank you to Sunday for hanging out with me on the phone till my proper train showed up.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've had to pee since 18th Street.
