Urgh - sounds like my mother, too. I'm sure she means well, but the best thing you can do for yourself is to push back a little. You don't become a strong person in life unless you make a few mistakes and learn from them.

yeah my mom doesn't hold much faith in me either. I am 33 and still get treated like a 14 yr old and to make it worse due to situatioins beyond my control I had to move back here temporarily....ugh.

thats close enough to be harped on...me I live in my bedroom for the most part. I use the avoid at all cost method of dealing with good ole mom or at least I try it but gets hard when she follows you with "her" advice...lol

In response to both this and your comment to me... the "burn bridges and get the hell out of here" approach might be a good one! I didn't burn bridges, but I definitely went for the "get the hell outta here" approach when I moved from Rochester, NY to San Diego - about as far away as I could. And I am SOOOOOO glad that I don't live close to my parents. We have a much better relationship now, and I don't have to listen to how I'm making all the wrong choices with my life if I don't want to.

*sigh* It wasn't easy to leave, though. *remembers mom sitting on the couch ignoring me as I hauled all my stuff out to the car*
