Oh dear God, how am I going to preach on these texts?


At least I have seven months to prepare!

See, since I never made it to seminary, it takes me that long to figure out what the hell the text is saying. Maybe someday I will remedy that. Maybe.

I don't know... The Matthew one intrigues me-- I remembered the story about the girl with the demon, but not the earlier part about that which comes out of the mouth being what defiles.

But mostly I now have this annoying Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat medley in my head thanks to the first one (My youth group did a short version of it once. I was one of the brothers, heh.)

Just remember that your first responsibility is to the Gospel text, and then if it works out so you can use the other texts to reflect on it. You should be fine, if you need any suggestions about the text I'd be happy to help and I'm sure Larry could offer advice as well (probably better advice than me, in fact).

Yep, I just have to figure out what its saying to me. As I said, I have seven months :-) Its just at first reading, nothing popped out to me.

I think it's like that for everyone - seminary-educated or not. It's just that the preacher-types who do it weekly have honed their process down so that it's maybe not quite as excruciating as it is for occasional preachers.
