Feb. 20th, 2008 11:23 amYour luck ran out. I apologize.
Continuing on the Yuri Bashmet theme, here he is performing one of my absolute favorite pieces for the viola ever- Hindemith's Trauermusik, or "Music of Mourning". I played it at church on Palm Sunday a few years back, after the reading of the Passion (not with full orchestra, of course, just piano). I could listen to it forever.
If you listen carefully in the last 3 minutes or so, you can hear the strain of the Doxology in the orchestral accompaniment.
Someday again. Someday.
By the way-who thought it was a good idea to give Maxim Vengerov a viola? BAD IDEA!
