AN ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
MIDNIGHT CST TUESDAY NIGHT.

FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET...POSSIBLY MIXED AT TIMES WITH SNOW AND
SLEET...WILL DEVELOP AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. PRECIPITATION WILL
GRADUALLY CHANGE TO MOSTLY FREEZING RAIN TUESDAY MORNING.
PRECIPITATION COULD FALL RATHER HEAVILY AT TIMES LATE TONIGHT AND
TUESDAY LEADING TO THE POTENTIAL FOR RAPID ICE ACCUMULATIONS...
ESPECIALLY ON ELEVATED OBJECTS SUCH AS TREES AND POWER LINES.

INDICATIONS ARE THAT PORTIONS OF THIS WARNING AREA COULD RECEIVE
A QUARTER TO ONE HALF INCH OF ICE...IN ADDITION TO SOME SLEET AND
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. SOME OF THE WARNING AREA COULD SEE
TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE FREEZING AND PRECIPITATION TURN TO ALL
RAIN DURING THE AFTERNOON TUESDAY...PARTICULARLY AROUND I-88 AND
I-290. FARTHER NORTH TOWARD THE WISCONSIN BORDER PRECIPITATION
MAY REMAIN FREEZING RAIN THROUGH THE DAY TUESDAY.

ANY SMALL CHANGE IN THE FORECAST TEMPERATURE...EITHER AT THE
SURFACE OR ALOFT...WOULD HAVE DRASTIC IMPLICATIONS ON THE
EXPECTED PRECIPITATION TYPE AND AMOUNTS. PERSONS PLANNING TRAVEL
ACROSS THE WATCH AREA TUESDAY SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR LATER
FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS ON THIS DEVELOPING WINTER STORM. THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS UPGRADED THE WINTER STORM
WATCH TO AN ICE STORM WARNING AND A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY.

AN ICE STORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF ICE ACCUMULATIONS
WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. TRAVEL IS STRONGLY
DISCOURAGED. COMMERCE WILL LIKELY BE SEVERELY IMPACTED. IF YOU
MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. ICE ACCUMULATIONS COULD LIKELY
LEAD TO SNAPPED POWER LINES AND FALLING TREE BRANCHES THAT ADD TO

Chicago doesn't generally get hit as badly as other places- NW IN gets three times what we do- but yeah, it looks like a doozy.

Eeep... stay warm and dry. Sorry you are feeling under the weather to boot. I dunno if you have MS-Word on your computer but if you do, and you want to convert something from all caps, it's easy. You just paste the text in there, select all of it and then hit shift-F3.

And... if you don't have Office and could use the functionality, check out openoffice.org, which is free open-source shareware.

indeed it is that same storm. i hear at one point there were 600,000 people without power? now still around 500,000? and mostly in oklahoma? yikes.

reminds me of the ice storm canada got struck with a few years back.
