My life? No, nothing particularly new.

I lost my purse somewhere on Monday. Leona's says they don't have it, and it isn't in Libby's car, which means its got to be in my house somewhere. Of course that had to be the day I decided to carry the big purse and put -everything- in it, including my cell phone (the battery on which has died, yes I tried to call it), my palm pilot, my state ID, my passport, and my U2 Special Edition iPod. Fuck all. But, I comfort myself, it has to be in the house somewhere. Unless there's another Leona's patron out there who is sitting back and grooving to the U2 box set right now. In that case, I'm kinda screwed.

I finally got around to watching the special features for seasons 3 and 4 of Voyager. I can't believe I didn't watch them for the first 2 seasons, but when its all over I'll have to borrow those discs back. I really enjoy the behind-the-scenes stuff. Plus there's this really cool part on the season 4 stuff where real scientists (astrophysicists, astronomers, I can't remember) talk about the science behind the science fiction. I also get a huge kick out of the Easter Eggs, but could only find one for season 3. Special note to [livejournal.com profile] atonal1: I'm ready for Season 5- bring it on!!!

But the most exciting thing EVER is that William is going to come tomorrow!!! *happy dance* The Peanut will grace the world with his presence, and the lives of [livejournal.com profile] sleepykins and [livejournal.com profile] histrogeek will never be the same. Since The 'Nidge has already offered babysitting services, that means neither will ours :-) I'm looking forward to being one of [livejournal.com profile] sleepykins's official Post Baby Company-Keepers over the next few weeks- I'll have to get a bus pass!

Oh yeah, and the reason I was at Leona's on Monday was to have lunch with [livejournal.com profile] atonal1 and [livejournal.com profile] splagxna, who just couldn't stay away from Chicago for long. Even though she picked a hell of a week to come here.

Its cold. Its really fucking cold. I know that I not only state the obvious, but I state the obvious that everyone is sick of hearing. But its cold, which makes everything hurt more, and that means I'm more of a hermit than usual since I'm afraid to go outside. And then the last few days- and I felt it coming on, I just haven't learned to recognize it yet- my body had one if its "you're putting what kind of chemicals into me??!?" phases. The kind of stuff I am pumping into my body right now, if put into an otherwise healthy body, can really fuck stuff up. But for me, it is helping keep it as regulated as possible. Bah. Who wanted a normal life anyway?

And also, I can't say enough, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

And you know who you are.

By the way, have I ever tried to draft you two Amys into [livejournal.com profile] belovedamy? I mean, not much goes on there, but I started it several years ago just to be dorky :-) I'm still technically a maintainer, but I let someone else have free reign a long time ago.

How do the special features on the Voyager DVDs compare to those on the DS9 DVDs? I was mildly disappointed that there wasn't more content for a show that a lot of people (myself included) liked so much.

I'm only a Trekkie-in-Training (yeah, lets not try to make that an acronym...), so I have to hang my head and admit that I haven't watched any DS9 DVDs yet......

Ah, well then it's something to look forward to! DS9 was by far my favorite Star Trek series (though I've sometimes been met with uncomprehension and disbelief for saying that).

I've seen a handful of episodes, and I remember really liking them.

Chances are I'm going to escape from all of this really, really, really loving anything Star Trek :-) My housemate is going to download a bunch of the original series for us, too.

I am sadly, sadly unfamiliar with the original series. Maybe that belongs on my Netflix list.

Beware- its bad. Its B-movie-level bad. But its awesome, too. And I think its essential viewing for anyone who really wants to understand the world Gene Roddenberry created way back then. I'm interested to see how the different producers and directors made the evolutions happen from series to series.

Dood. I need to get out more.

Ha, yeah, the few I've seen have been really corny.

My dad said that he used to watch it in college, and that every time it was on, he had to decide between watching the end or getting to the cafeteria before it closed. If that happened to me with (the new incarnation of) Battlestar Galactica, I think I'd turn into a hungrier person. (BSG is another good place to start if you want to get hopelessly sucked into an outstanding sf series - if you haven't already seen it, that is.)

I REALLY want to watch BSG! I have a ton of friends who watch it, but we don't have cable at my house. I'm going to have to find someone with it on DVD and start borrowing it. I can have Sci-Fi Friday Night without the Sci-Fi channel!

It's so freaking good. My friend in our music department met the guy who writes the score for it, incidentally.
