I just finished reading V for Vendetta.

*blinkblink*

Wow.

*blinkblink*

And yes, that's why I was inspired to post that Yeats poem- it was quoted towards the end of the book.

*blinkblink*

More absorption time needed.

But...

Wow.

While you are on an Alan Moore kick, pick up The Watchmen.

And when you decide you want somehting a little less in your face, League of Extordanary Gentelman.

I Love V for Vendetta.

V makes me tingle in my pants... :D

I've read the book (you're right... wow!) but I thought that the film was very well done as well. The actor they got to play V is one of my favourites (he's been in a Matrix, a magical elf, a flaming drag queen... *grins*) and his voice was perfect for the character.

Theres a reason why Alan Moore is so revered.

The recommendation for WATCHMEN is seconded, but...well...you'll literally have to pay attention to every single panel, every line of dialogue and every word in the text pieces in the back of each issue. There's text and subtext to each one.

But yeah, WATCHMEN and FROM HELL are about as good as comics get. Coincidentally enough they are both written by the same hairy English genius.

That would be great! I am getting in the hang of reading graphic novels, finally, too- its too easy for me to just read the text and forget there is art.

I find it funny that it takes me longer to read comic books than it does for me to read novels. But there's twice the information.

I loved V. Too bad about the movie.

I wondered about that with the poem.

Yes, the whole thing is just awesome. I really liked it a lot better than the movie, particularly his little soliloquies. The one where he talks to Madame Justice before blowing up the Old Bailey is my favorite.

I liked it a lot better than the movie (though I liked the movie too).

Yeah, that was my response after reading it.

Hi there.

My name’s Nick and I am a PhD student in sociology in Australia. I was wondering whether it would be okay for me to post a research invite on '3faithdialogue' for my research which looks at everyday understandings and experiences of morality. Most of the invite is behind a cut

Regards,

Nick

Sure, you're welcome to do so, providing none of the material is overtly offensive or inflamatory. Since you're a PhD student in sociology I'd be willing to be it isn't, but I thought I'd at least mention it :-) You can also say the mod says you can post it, just in case you get any complaints from anyone that its not relevant or something. I'm personally intrigued by the prospect of the research.
