I finally got to see [livejournal.com profile] divalibby76 this morning... Er... afternoon... er... after I got up... whatever... for lunch. It was a good thing. I feel sort of guilty for having lured her to Chicago but not seeing her as much as I'd like. Due to our conflicting schedules, the fact that she doesn't have a car and I don't like to pay that much to park near her place, it is hard to see her. So lunch was good. We went to TGIFriday's in Oak Park. Due to the fact that I usually visit TGIFriday's with large numbers of people, I now have enough points on my Friday's Gold Card for a free dessert next time I am in. Woohoo! Chocolate Rush, here we come!

Lunch culminated in a shopping trip to Pumpkin Moon. If you haven't been there, I highly recommend it (for you city folk, it is right off the end of the line of the Green Line). It is a novelty/toy shop in downtown Oak Park that specializes in things like lunchboxes from 1960's television shows, loaded dice, Jesus action figures and all sorts of interesting bohemian-type cards. It is where I purchased a Patron Saint of the Television icon (glow-in-the-dark, no less!) for Libby for Christmas. So I purchased a few things. Borders will just have to live without me this month.

Purchased:

Sixties magnetic poetry set

2 magnets
-one that says something about turning into your mother, which I left in the car cos it is for my sister so I don't remember the exact quote
-one that is for me that has a picture of a little girl who disturbingly resembles the Shake 'n Bake kid, that says "Mommy, when I grow up I want to help smash the white racist, homophobic, patriarchal, bullshit paradigm too!" This would appear funnier if you knew my mother....

Fuzzy pez dispenser for Ben that looks like Sergei the cat, formerly of my residence and currently of his.

Five buttons
-Smiley face
-Peace sign with an American flag design
-"If there's one thing I can't stand its intolerance"
-One that says "Woodstock" with a picture of a guitar neck with a birdie on it
-"Comfort the disturbed- Disturb the comfortable"

I had a backpack (still have, don't carry much any more) when I was at Olaf that has all sorts of buttons on it. It started when I purchased a button that said "I'm straight but not narrow", and was then given a button by Scott Isaacs (miss him so much!) that said "I'm straight but not normal". It just sort of escalated from there. It also contains a Koala bear playing the violin (backwards!) that Libby brought me from Australia, and a button that says "Music is happiness you can hear". I am still trying to figure out what happened to my "Viola- the UN-violin!" one....

I'm thinking about reviving the use of said backpack and calling it my ActivismPack. I wish I could find a button with they saying of my magnet on it.

Anyway.... I'm gonna go now. I have to teach, then pick up [livejournal.com profile] pheret1 and [livejournal.com profile] dust_wind_dude and go downtown tonight for World's Worst Movie night. Featuring Dark Star and whatever it was that Shaggy picked out.

I am afraid. Very afraid.
