Third Way Liberal

You scored 76% Personal Liberty and 31% Economic Liberty!

A third way liberal believes in little to moderate government intervention on personal matters and moderate to high government intervention on economic matters. They tend to be opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, and what they may consider to be a corporate state or rogue capitalism. They generally support personal liberty and believes in a social safety net or welfare state. They support self-ownership and privacy. Third way liberals are essentially the "mainstream" left and left of center.

I'm not particularly surprised by my results. Frankly, I'm a little pleased. Although I wouldn't have been surprised to be farther to the left, either.

I have to admit, though, that this test has a lot of forced answers. Didn't like that so much. Also, even though I'm a flaming liberal and proud of it, I have to also admit that I think this test is written to be pretty biased towards the left.

Anyway, that's my personal position behind it all.

I just did it (posted the results in my journal) and there were way too many questions and a lot of questions I didn't even understand (ands some, that as an Australian, didn't really relate to me).

I knew it was getting too long when I misread this question:
"Unfortunately, many unions have become increasingly monopolistic or counterproductive."

as
Unfortunately, many unicorns have become increasingly monopolistic or counterproductive."

Unicorns? wtf?

Huh, I came out as a third way liberal too although a little closer to centrist than you with 61% personal and 33% economic. The test does seem pretty biased and some of the questions are very vague too although the quote ones are a nice touch. I have to wonder if anyone is picking 'strongly agree' to the mandatory prayer in schools and replacing evolution with intelligent design.

Those damned unicorns, they're always so monopolistic and counterproductive!

I shudder to think there might be

I think a cube might be better for a politics quiz because you can have a third axis.

Interesting that you found the test liberal-biased. Another friend (who also scored 3rd way liberal) though it was libertarian-biased.

I thought there were some highly conservative-skewed questions, particularly about the stated lack of success of socialism and communism, which implied you'd really have to be out there on the radical-left Marxist fringe to disagree. *shrug*

I came out 69%/28% and I'd also say that the questions skewed Libertarian to me, which made some of them difficult to answer in their unqualified forms -- I kept thinking "well, under some circumstances, but not across the board", which seems weaker than actual agreement to me, but it's only got the four choices.

There were a lot of questions I thought needed a middle option, neither agree nor disagree. Either that, or a short answer section, even though I know that's not possible. I kept wanting to argue with all the questions!

I also was a Third Way Liberal, 65% Personal and 28% Economic liberties. I'm not sure that's really all that accurate.

I can see the libertarian bias more clearly than conservative or liberal.

That's a good point about the libertarian bias. I guess I was using the word "liberal" loosely, meaning it was left-leaning, but I was lumping libertarian in with that, which I shouldn't. I agree that it was definitely libertarian biased.
