We have porccupines in Australia, I think... I'm not sure if they're the same thing or if they're just as cute... But I want a hedgehog! :D

We have porccupines in the US, too, they weigh 15+ lbs, a little bigger than Hedgies. Just as cute, though.

*grins* Maybe we don't have anything... Ooh we have platypuses :D They look like a wombat has just mated with a duck... Oh yeah, sexy.

And echidna's, which are sort of spikey ant eater things... I guess they're kinda like hedgehogs. :)

Everytime I see 'lbs' I read it as lillabytes... I spent way too much time in front of the computer. We use the metric systems in Australia, so it's just my brain not being able to read 'lbs' as 'pounds'... :)

How does it taste? I would suspect a little gamey, kinda mutton like. That guess is based on their diet... Need to see if I can get it over here.

Hmm, I wonder if there has ever been a platypus omlette?

There probably has been a platypus omlette... We eat quails egg omlettes (expensive... and tastes the same lol)

Kangaroo tastes like... Umm... Meat. lol. I don't think I've ever had mutton and I've heard of people describing meat as gamey, but I don't know what it exactly refers to, so I'm no help at all. lol. It tastes more like beef steak than mutton (sheep?). It's a red meat and is really really nice with a red wine jus and garlic mash. ;) I guess how it tastes is all down to how it's cooked, but medium raw on a stove top it tastes like steak. Possibly a little stringier in texture, but definately more chewey.

Oh, there's nothing quite like eating your national emblem... :p Crocodile tastes like a cross between chichen and lamb :D

I should tell you tales, sometime, of our adventures owning a hedgehog when I was younger. They're cute, but really not for everyone - as we discouvered. :-P

Yeah, we have three cats in the house right now. One of my housemates says he is all for getting a hedgehog, as soon as we can prove to him that 1) we collectively have the time/energy to properly care for one, and 2) the cats won't eat it. They are SO cute, tho!
