And fireworks scare the shit outta me. Just thought I'd share. After spending a couple months in a "conflict area" I no longer am amused by the idea of making loud banging noises for fun.

My brother was deathly afraid of fireworks when he was little. I feel horrible now about how I laughed at his terror...

It is interesting, Fireworks in the US are to remember the battle for freedom, and a battle for freedom is what makes you not like fireworks...

Jelly Bean agrees with you. She gives this cute "Mommy make it stop look" when they boom.

Two acquaintances of mine who ran the English Language school in Tirana, Albania had previously worked in Yemen during the civil war. Under fire, Shell Oil got them out with Shell’s employees, and they were brought to London, where their employers got them first row theater tickets…

…to Miss Saigon.

To hear them retell the story is very funny. It was not so funny at the time.

They did. They appriciated the tickets going into the theater. They then tried to crawl under their seats when the gunfire started.

Do you still go to fireworks displays? I'm thinking my days of that are over.

Ugh. The neighborhood kids are still at it in the park across the street. The cops have been by twice, and the kids are still going at it.

Well, I do. But I find a place on a nice hill away from the noise and enjoy the visuals.
