Is anybody particularly familiar with Lions Gate Films as a corporation?

I'm curious if it has anything to do with the Lions Gate in Jerusalem.

My limited search-engine-use skills aren't giving me much information such as that which I desire.

The original company was founded by director Robert Altman, who named it after a Vancouver landmark, Lions' Gate Bridge

Thanks, exactly what I needed to know :-D

Do always approach Wikipedia with a certain amount of skeptcism ... although I have rarely found it to be wrong, when it is it's pretty glaring.

It was actually named after "Rhino's Gate" gorge in the Marquesas'. Rhinos being politically incorrect at the time the name was changed.
