So what I'm learning is, I really need to start wearing a hat when I'm out in the sun because MY FREAKING SCALP GETS SUNBURNED! So special thanks to Ben for the radiation-green floppy hat you lent me for my trip. Sometimes being blonde can be really quite the burden.
So lets move backwards in time together, shall we? Not far. Just...oh, 36 hours or so. It all starts (ends?) at Navy Pier with my dearest sister- [livejournal.com profile] pheret1 had $160 or so removed sureptitiously from her purse as our party of nine dined at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company . So that wasn't so good. In fact, it pretty much sucked. Luckily that was offset by the incredible couple or three hours spent at the beach. YES, we do have decent beaches in the midwest! I can't believe we haven't thought of this sooner. I live 20 miles from one of the worlds largest ponds and I've been to the beach downtown Chicago twice in my life. It was BEAUTIFUL! Even though we were on the wrong side of the water to watch the sun set over the lake, it was still a gorgeous sunset. And swimming in Chicago's lake isn't at all as ucky as you might think it would be. Except the lifeguards were assholes. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

Here I'm going to take a moment out and BITCH ABOUT THE PRICE OF FUCKING PARKING YOUR CAR IN THE CITY!!! I think that at LEAST half of what I spent to day was on parking alone. Isn't that just RIDICULOUS???

So anyway...

I think we ate a lot today. Because our journey ends (begins?)at Goose Island Brewpub where we had lunch together, only as a party of ten cuz Ben's brother Alex decided to take back of for Michigan instead of spending the rest of the day with US. *pouts* I think I liked Bubba Gump's better, altho that was a damn tasty burger.

But the hightlight of the weekend was definitely the going-away party for my dear friend and adopted sister, [livejournal.com profile] pinkfluffyjumpr .(I WAS the only one to drag my sorry ass out of bed for church this morning, but you don't want to hear about that. But we sang some pretty hymns!) Sadly, she is leaving us go move to England (you know, that really big island just outside of France) to pursue a dream of being a singer. She will be most extraordinarily missed. She is a fixture in the lives of many, and much loved and adored. In fact, I don't really think it has sunk in yet to me that I'm not going to be seeing her a lot soon. She leaves the day after I get back from Colorado, so today was the last chance I had to see her before she goes. I'm so sad. So Kelly Belly, if you're wondering, I LOVE YOU and I MISS YOU ALREADY!!!!!!! I promise to write but you better write back or I'll come to England and kick your ass. But only if you promise to introduce me to YOU-KNOW-WHO!!!!!!!!

Wow....I said a lot. Maybe I should stop now. I've pretty much hit the highlights. There's my trip, but I think I'll just update you when I get back. I get to spend 13 hours on a bus tomorrow, 6 more on Tuesday, and then on Sunday turn around and do the whole thing backwards. WOOHOO!! I'm excited. But I'm also woefully unprepared. In fact, I hear the washing machine has stopped, so this is a good time to leave you all and put it all in the dryer and pack. I leave in 3 1/2 hours. Talk about last minute packing. Blchhhhhhhhh. Ok. See y'all in a week! *poof* I'm gone!
