Dec. 4th, 2002 12:47 pmI remember Sunday saying to me once- Sunday, the king of car accidents- saying "if you know you're about to get hit by a car, the best thing to do is jump in the air and go limp".
I should have remembered that. For some reason, even though life continues to make the most surreal turns, I seem to keep expecting something usual to happen. And then it doesn't.
Amy's bitch #1: If string players aren't going to wear their goddammed wedding rings, even on the opposite hand, the least they could do is pin a sign on their backs saying "Go away. I'm married". This is really starting to piss me off.
I had the loveliest conversation this weekend with my ex-boyfriend's ex-wife, her boyfriend, and oldest daughter. Turned out I still had the other girl's viola at my house that she hadn't used for years. It had been sitting in the corner of my living room for almost two years, and HE had never called me to pick it up. At any rate, I didn't want to return it to him, because he was just going to sell it, which I knew she didn't want. Having no way to contact the ex-wife or daughter, I simply kept it. So I passed the ex-wife in the hallway at the ballet this weekend, turned around on a whim and said "you know, I think I still have that viola at home." To which she responded very happily. So on Sunday I brought it back to them at the post-party. It was WEIRDWEIRDWEIRDWEIRDWEIRD. Seeing us standing there chatting, the innocent passerby would never have known our bizzare situation, and perhaps would have thought we were all old friends catching up with each other.
Unfortunatly, with all the distractions, I don't think I played nearly as well as I should have, but oh well. They didn't fire me and I got my paycheck. And its not like I have to worry about whether or not they'll call me for next year, seeing as I will be out of the country by then! BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Joke's on them!
So in order to establish continuity between my first statement and the rest of my post, I will point out that if I would just relax, instead of expecting anything at all, I wouldn't emerge from life feeling like I'd just been hit by a Mack truck.
This weekend is Symphonic Pops weekend. Saturday in Janesville, WI; Sunday in LaGrange. Of course, between the gigs I need to make it to church and teach Sunday School. Then I promised them I'd be at the Advent service Sunday night. I'm sleeping in like a MoFo on Monday.
but for now, *poof* I'm gone.
