Meme from
kibblesWould you do meth if it was legalized?Oh, yeah- because, you know, my brain needs even
more wiring ripped from it. GREAT IDEA.
Are you for or against abortion? Now, there's a false dichotomy.
I believe it should be kept legal and affordable. Men in power do
not have the right to determine what a woman does with her body. Period. I have a whole bunch more reasons why I believe this, and if you really want to know what they are, we can have a discussion about it.
That said, I want to find a way so women don't find themselves in the position of having their only option be abortion. And I don't mean "carry it to term and put it up for adoption", although that works for some people. I mean better sex ed in schools (including YES, you CAN get pregnant the FIRST TIME!), better access to birth control, teaching young women to have the self-esteem to not sleep around, etc., again, many more things there's not room for here
Would our country (United States) fall with a woman president? Absolutely not.
Or, I should say, men and women are equally competent and equally fallible.
Do you believe in the death penalty? No.
Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?Yes.
Do you believe in God?Yes.
Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?I think the idea of marriage, the way it is right now, should be completely revamped, anyway, no matter who you are, and no matter who you want to marry. Everyone should have the right to marry who they want to, and everyone should have the right to make that union state-sanctioned or not.
As far as I'm concerned, "marriage" is a spiritual thing, something where two people make a commitment to each other in front of family and friends, and- if applicable to the couple's beliefs- God. There are good reasons to make it legal to the state, but one should not be compelled to do so.
And, then again, everyone should have the right to do neither with their relationship with another person.
Do you think its wrong that so many Hispanics are moving to the USA?Dude. Seeing a bias in this questionnaire? Perhaps a conservative one? So perhaps I should do my part to continue to confront these stupid ideas.
NO, I don't think it is wrong for anyone to want to come to the US, regardless of race or ethnic background (of course, regardless of other things too, but this is the issue of the question). Many of those who come here illegally have very good reasons for leaving where they came from to come to the US- often reasons of life or death, or at least of poverty.
First of all, overturn NAFTA. It is screwing the fuck out of Mexico. Oh yeah, and CAFTA. Those trade agreements are destroying the economy of those nations, which throws more and more people into poverty, who then try to come to the US and Canada to attempt to make a living for their families. Want to help end illegal immigration? Then help boost the economies and infrastructure in the countries of origin of those who enter the country illegally. [n.b. feeling a bit of passion coming from me about this issue?]
Second, legal immigration policies should be loosened.
Third, start treating everyone as if they were a human being, even if their skin is brown, and even if they don't speak English very well yet.
Fourth, grow up and get over yourself.
A twelve year old girl has a baby...should she keep it?I don't know, why don't you ask her and her family? [n.b.- kept from
kibbles because I agree with it]
Should the alcohol age be lowered to 18?That or don't let them drive, sign contracts, smoke, vote, or join the military until age 21. [n.b.- again, kept]
Also, countries where the drinking age is lower, or nonexistent, have much, much lower rates of young people abusing alcohol, and lower rates of alcohol-related accidents- again, especially in young people. I have never understood why US policymakers haven't understood this.
Assisted suicide is illegal...do you agree? It is something that makes me cringe a little, personally, and if someone I loved insisted on it, it would be very difficult for me to watch.
But yes, I don't see why it shouldn't be legal. As sad as it is to think about, everyone has the right to end their own lives, especially if they are suffering.
Do you believe in spanking your children? No. Hitting children only teaches them it is okay to hit.
Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?I would burn the flag for free, but I would sure take the million dollars if it were offered to me.
I could go on about the whole "in this country we have the freedom to expression, and to protest, and to criticize the government!", but its much bigger than that.
A flag is a piece of cloth. It is not the nation, it is not the people in the nation. If you assign sacredness to it, that is the choice you make; it is not- although Bush seems to have a problem identifying this- something ordained by God.
Also, my first allegiance is not to that piece of cloth, nor is it to this country. It is to God, and it is to the human race.
I won't say the pledge, either.
A mother is declared innocent after murdering her 5 children in a temporary insanity case, do you agree? As
kibbles points out, "It's not declared innocent, it's 'not guilty'." There is a difference.
Second of all- was I on the jury? Was I in the courtroom? Do I actually know exactly how insane this woman was?
Third- why do I need to agree or not agree? The entire idea is one of unmeasurable sadness, that is what counts.
Fourth- a woman murdering her 5 children? Yeah. Probably insane.
Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?Afraid? No. What are my values if I can't be confident about them, and stand up for them in public?
I know I'm a pacifist and all, but I sort of have the urge to track down the author of this quiz and smack them around a little...
