So if you've been reading my LiveJournal at all closely for the last ten months you know all about my journey down the road of medical issues and chronic pain. I haven't been able to work since last March, and stopped drawing any kind of stipend from CPT in October. Due to the fact that I've been working for a non-profit the last couple years I also didn't have much savings. On top of that, I also have medication bills that can go into astronomical proportions; my main medication, Lyrica, is a relatively new drug and isn't out in any generic yet.

I've been incredibly fortunate to be living in this Community. My housemates have been on the front lines of all this with me, and have been able to bolster me up emotionally, and financially when needed. Unfortunately, even those resources are running out. Everyone who lives here works hard in ways that contribute to our Community- as well as the larger community in general- both financially and socially, but none of us has the kind of income or savings to be able to carry one whole person month-to-month with financial necessities like these.

It is important to note that I do not have financial help from my family; my parents are both retired and living on fixed incomes, and my siblings all have responsibilities to their own households. My family has helped me where they have been able in many other ways.

There are some solutions to these problems. I have applications in to several drug companies to see if I qualify for the prescription drug programs set up to help low-income people get their necessary medications. I am also starting the process of applying for SSI disability. However, these things take time- the drug companies tell you to expect a minimum of six weeks waiting to hear back (I sent in the applications just after Christmas), and reliable rumor has it that disability will reject everybody the first time around, regardless- and money is running out now.

So I put it to you, my beloved online community, to put the word out. I know there are some of you who have been unbelieveably kind and generous already- for which I'm profoundly grateful- and I'm hoping there are more out there like you. So I ask you if you have any extra money you are willing and able to donate to help out. LJ lists that over 200 people reportedly read my journal; if even just half of that number actually reads me regularly enough to see this, and can donate an average of $10 per person*, that is two months rent, food, and bills right there. An average of $15 per person can cover all that plus one month's worth of medication. Throwing in an extra dollar or so also gives me a little spending cash for things like bus fare, personal items, etc. I'll leave it to each one of you to do any math beyond that.

We have set up a PayPal account that goes directly into the community bank account- the account from which we pay our rent and bills, buy food, and now purchase medication. You should be able to simply click the button below to make a PayPal transfer, or pay with a credit or debit card.

Those of you who know me well know that this is not an easy thing for me. I'm not very good at asking for help, and I like even less the idea of encroaching on others. However, please realize that I wouldn't be doing this if I thought I had any other options. I am hoping this is a relatively temporary measure, and that by the end of two months something further will have come through.

Anyone who has questions or requires more information is welcome to contact me via email. I'd be happy to provide a more detailed breakdown of what my expenses are, and where your money will be going, upon request.

Thank you so much for your love and support throughout this very difficult year.

EDIT: Yes, you are welcome to send checks as well, if you are so inclined. You may make the check out to "The Community of the Holy Trinity", and mail it here. If you do not have the security clearance to see that filtered post :-) you may email me, and I can let you know what the mailing address is.

*of course, being aware that there are those who can spare nothing, but perhaps there are those who can spare a little more at a time
