Reason #483,459 why I love living in my house, with my housemates:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

From left to right: Paul (a houseguest who stays with us periodically), Kate (PINK!), and Katya. Benjamin was inside getting the rest of the food, Larry was inside feeding a cat, and I was behind the camera. And thus concludes the recitation of the members of the community and their involvement with this photograph. Except for the cats- Byron, Wh, and Sweetness.

The church our house is attached to has a picnic bench out front. It is, unfortunately, chained mightily to a large tree, which makes me think it has possibly wandered off in the past. Tonight for dinner, Benjamin decided eating outside sounded good. And it did. So we carried our meal- really, a very picnic-y meal- and a bunch of candles out to the picnic bench, and ate out there. Benjamin made us some kind of veggie burger that tasted a lot like chicken patties, corn-on-the-cob, and potato salad with vinegar and curry powder in the dressing. We hailed some neighbors as they walked past, and a couple of them stopped and talked with us, including an elderly Indian gentleman- who teased us about being a restaurant, and pretended to look around to see where the kitchen was- and a woman walking her 13-week-old cocker spaniel puppy named Jack.

There is also a fairly wide expanse of lawn between the church building and the house, and we all thought it would be fun to eat outside, but next time on the ground, bringing cushions for people to sit on, and enough food to share if anyone stops long enough to chat.

After dinner, Kate and Larry took off for their bus to Toronto, where Kate will be giving a workshop on fashion during Culture Is Not Optional's yearly camping retreat. Katya, Benjamin, Byron, Sweetness, Wh and I settled into the Den/Library to watch Steamboy, that Benjamin had NetFlix-ed.

And that, combined with the fact that I had a bath and put on clean clothes, has used up all of my spoons for the day.

I think someone should come visit me this weekend. Who would like to? I can tempt you with movies and my scintillating company, but that's about it. Huh? Huh? Pleeeese?

Oh.My.God.

That's all I can say. I think you'll understand when you read it.
