rollick's post yesterday about Sidewalk Rage to hit very close to home. It came just a few days after I realized that I can suffer from what I will now refer to as Escalator Rage (it also occurs on stairs, but Escalator Rage has a better ring to it than Stair Rage, I think).
Sometimes, when trying to board the el, I find myself behind someone on the escalator or stairs who seems rooted in their position. Upon hearing a train bounding into the station, or the announcement that "an inbound train (toward the loop) will be arriving shortly", they do not budge. Usually it is someone with a small child in tow, or large packages, or maybe it is two or more co-eds taking up the entire span- at any rate, they are impossible to get around.
It is exactly then that I feel like hollering "hel-lo, there is a train, I'd like to be on it, GETOUTTAMYWAAAYYY!".
Escalator Rage. Yep.
