Mar. 7th, 2004 09:13 pmSee, I have seven communities. I'm not a very good moderator, especially not in the last few months. I justify this to myself by saying that its just that I believe in a laissez-faire system of moderating communities- which I suppose is the way it is, to a certain extent. I think my most successful community, for several reasons, is
3faithdialogue (even though, after the fact, it was suggested to me that it might be more accurate to call it "3faithtrialogue", but I personally found that slightly redundant).
On the user info page I made it very clear that we weren't going to tolerate bullshit, or name-calling or trolling or flaming, and so far 99% of the people who joined have been amazingly good about that. Only once have I had to delete an inappropriate post, and my co-moderators have only put out mild warnings once or twice, which I'm grateful for. I wanted this to be a safe place for people to ask questions and debate 'n stuff.
So, feeling like a bad moderator, I was perusing through recent posts and their comments today, and realized that I'm really happy with what is being accomplished there. I ran across this recent post and realized that it was a prime example of exactly what I wanted to have happen there. Yay!
Makes a girl feel as if she's actually accomplishing something.
