(no subject)

Well, earlier tonight I warned dust_wind_dude that he better be wearing his asbestos pajamas when he reads my next post, because it was going to be a really frustrated, angry, bitchy rant.

Well, turns out I lost the energy/motivation for that.

Suffice to say, we put the new battery in, but it didn't solve the problem.

This means:

1)I still don't have my car. It is still sitting on the streets of Chicago.

2)Vince drove me all the way into the city and all the way home for complete naught.

3)Someone mentioned the nasty "A" word to me (Alternator, for the uninitiated), but I don't know enough about cars to agree or disagree with that statement. I just know that alternators are fucking expensive, and I'm not laying another dime into that rat trap of a vehicle.

4)Someone else mentioned spark plugs, which Vince and I were too distracted by the battery deal to even think about.

5)I can't go anywhere tomorrow, because I'll probably have to go back out to get the car in the city, and anyway, apparently I'm supposed to have dinner with my brother, niece, and niece's boyfriend tomorrow night.



Arghhhh..........


Perhaps I should chill out and see if my new buddy cinnajess has any insight into what my car has decided to pull just for the fun of it... I swear, that thing has it out for me.


Luckily, polyfrog has decided he has a craving for a burger that he knows he can get at the diner two blocks from my house, so he and shorah are coming down. I am going to meet them up there shortly to hang out. I just wish that place sold alcohol. I guess I'll just have to come home and drink my problems away later.

I am afraid Brew 'n View is out tomorrow for me. Which really sucks, because I really wanted to hang out, plus I've been wanting to see School of Rock. If I had my car, I could come out after Bro and niece leave, but since I don't, there is no hope. I don't think I'm going to have a chance to get back to my car until Monday morning, unfortunately. Luckily, its parked in a decent spot. But sometimes life is like that, eh.....?

Alternator

The alternator was the first thing done on the car when I got it almost six years ago. It's probably due for another one.

If you are getting enough power to turn on the lights and the radio, I don't see how it could be the spark plugs or the alternator. I'm just an industrial power transmission engineer, but spark plugs make the pinions fire. They have nothing to do with electricity.

An alternator acts like a generator when the engine is running. A bad alternator will result in your battery being drained, but it should not stop you from starting the car (for a little bit) or from turning on the radio if you have a new battery in the car.

Are you parked neer Chinatown? I have an aquaintance there who is apart of the hot-rod subculture there. He would know what is wrong with the car.

Unfortunately, I am parked on the sheer opposite side of town from Chinatown. But thanks! I'll have to see what will happen. I have a few Plan B's, we'll have to see where they take me.
