Nov. 7th, 2003 09:47 amI quite possibly am looking for something to do tonight. I'm not rich, but I have a little money. I'm looking for anyone who might be interested in seeing a movie, and probably getting something to eat before or after said movie. I'm not sure I'm up to driving/parking in the city tonight, but if you make the right offer there is about a 20% chance I can change my mind. Basically, I'm looking for something low-key, relatively inexpensive (as inexpensive as movies can be these days), with good company. If anyone is interested in fulfulling these... uh... oh-so-liberal guidelines, let me know (I know, I know, the search engine is probably going to return "Please widen search criteria"). Otherwise, I may take myself out to dinner and a movie. Yes, I'm the kind of weirdo loner freak who actually enjoys going to a movie by myself. Anyway.... yeah...

Date: 2003-11-07 08:51 am (UTC)I'm sure you would be wecome to go with them, or you and I could do something, but the problem is that both you and I are lazy and want the other person to come to us.
oops.
Besides, I/we might be invited to go out with Roz's group AFTER the movie, though I'm not sure how awake I'll be at 1 AM.
I'd like to see you. Havent seen you in a while.
OH! I have another excuse to stay here tonight. I have Church Choir Retreat tomorrow in the morning.....(morning being 10 AM, but still.)

Date: 2003-11-07 10:36 pm (UTC)Brew&view is fun, and only $5.00, but you need to go with a lot of friends and you need to show up early to get a table. The Athenium has affordable operas for around $15.00. It may appeal to the musician in you. I've never been much for clubs, so I can't really recomend anything there. Occasionally the art institute has a nice after0hours cocktail party. I've allways wanted to go to one of those. And occasionally a bunch of tatooed Maori people fly to Chicago have an after hours pow wow and sleep over in their sacred hut inside the Field Museum. (oddly enough, they are christianized now...) You can be invited to this after hours sleepover, and have free roam of the museum. And the Maori love stories, so it is alot of fun! To be invited you have to impress the ethnologist (calls himself uncle Mel? if memory serves...) when you visit the lodge at the field museum (he gives tours one a week, I believe.) I was invited once, but I didn't go because Uncle Mel fell in love with my boyish face. I didn't want to lead the poor guy on. Needless to say, you would be immune to that problem.
I would offer my company, but you only know me form LJ. It wouldn't be proper to meet me unescorted at night.

Date: 2003-11-07 10:40 pm (UTC)I actually could have done things in the city with people tonight, but for some reason I was loathe to fight the traffic. I ended up seeing a movie at Cantera by myself that I'm sure I could never talk any of my friends into seeing, so it was all good. I got to sit in the best row, too- right at the bottom of where the stadium seating starts, so I could put my feet up on the railing in front of me :-)
I'm hardly opposed to meeting my LJ friends in real life- in fact, if you are interested in meeting LJ people, come along with us to the next meetup, which is the fourth Tuesday of every month.
I'm really going to sleep now. I swear.

If you do get an invite, remember me! Perhapse the older and fatter me won't intrigue the Old Buzzard, and he'll leave me alone in favor of fresher meat!
I might do that November 25th. *cough* God Willing, I may even be healthy by then!
