So yesterday I was at the high school for lessons after school. Between students I had my door propped open, and past it waltzes the orchestra director. She says hey, I'm really glad you're still teaching here, do you have any openings? I try to play it cool, and I reply, yes, I think I do have a few openings. She says good, I have a ton of students who need a teacher because their teacher moved to South Carolina. I smile and say great, but inside I am whooping it up like crazy. So a couple of students later, the kid says, my teacher (at a different school) wants to know if you have any room for new students. And I say yes, I certainly do, but inside there's a party in my head and everyone's invited.

Now, under other circumstances, I'd be worried about taking new students, and then having to leave them only a few months later, but right now I'm so freaking broke, I don't really care. Also, I can work on getting them into new teachers over winter break, so I have awhile. Besides, it will be good for me to have an established studio when I leave, so I have plenty of references for when I get back.

Yay!


In other news, my tummy isn't so happy. Bleurgh.

If you get enough students, will it change your mind about going this January? (That is, would you consider putting it off for a year?)

No, because I've already put it off a whole year. I really just have to do it.

Sorry. I don't think I've actually seen anyone in person to talk about it since I made the decision, but some of the details are in this post (http://www.livejournal.com/users/violachic/144010.html?mode=reply). The volunteer service I was considering last year- I'm going. Let me know if I haven't given enough details or if you have questions.
